    Overview & Responsibilities

    As a Senior Solutions Engineer you will provide technical designing advice to both new and existing customers in new sales opportunities which fit the defined technical and budgetary requirements and constraints. You will be working alongside PreSales Solution Engineers, Sales, Service Delivery Manager and Support in achieving the segments financial target by designing the perfect solution for our clients challenge. You will accomplish this by identifying, technically qualifying and addressing prospect’s technical requirements by normal consultative methods. As Senior Solutions Engineer, from time to time you will be leading and mentoring more junior members of PreSales on sales opportunities

    You will have confidence in knowing your skills, you are calm and collected under pressure and always available to mentor the less experienced. Your colleagues see you as a good team player who is keen to share knowledge as well as to listen and learn from others. You have on occasions managed a large strategic opportunity but have needed a little guidance.




    Key Accountabilities

    • Consulting with both potential and existing customers, often looking for new opportunities
    • Leading exploratory conversation via phone or face to face with customers
    • Presenting solutions to IT & Business Directors
    • Travelling to customer offices
    • Attending Trade Shows to sell Rackspace’s offerings
    • Leading the technical interests in large bids that will include content writing
    • Owning a specific technology area and becoming the Subject Matter Expert (SME)
    • Responsible for architecting complex solutions and handing over to Implementation
    • Accountable for keeping current with Hosting market and technology
    • Coaching sales and other SE’s
    • Actively contributes to strategic planning at both account & market level
    • Work with all areas of business operations in developing solution for prospects
    • Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedure as directed
    • Knowledge, experience & expertise
    • Working at board level of mid size enterprise corporations, you are able to develop thought leadership relationships that enable strategic change within our customers
    • Able to lead a virtual team on presales opportunities requiring expert judgment and initiative for Data Centre transformation or consolidation projects less than 100 servers
    • Provide strategic change into contracts regarding SLA’s
    • You have excellent teaching skills that enable you to run technology based training for Sales
    • You can present technical concepts in authoritative and clear manner to customers through white boarding, presentations and proposals
    • You have experience in providing mentoring for your team and sales
    • You have a number of years experience in infrastructure design and understands implications and the impact to the business, both Rackspace & customer/prospect
    • You have experience with developing winning themes and then writing technical responses to bids (RFP’s & RFI’s)
    • You have experiences with leading customer workshops exploring the requirements and mapping solutions
    • Demonstrates expert knowledge of a chosen technology area (Subject Matter Expert)
    • Tenacious problem solver, will own issues until full resolution
    • Ability to create wow / delighter moments with customers
    • You are effective with managing your time and expected deliverables
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with great attention to detail
