    Rackspace is recognised as a company of experts, delivering world-class cloud service and a superior support experience on the world’s leading technology platforms. As part of our managed cloud strategy, we are seeking an experienced and accomplished GCP Specialist Solutions Architect.

     

    GCP is one of the fastest-growing cloud platforms in the world, and the core mission of this role is to engage with our customers and prospects to provide pre-sales architectural advice and thought leadership for our supported workloads running on the Google Cloud Platform. This role will as be working closely with our internal Application Architects to design and maintain good practice blueprints for leading commerce and content applications.

     

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pre-sales or technical professional confident in Cloud Technologies. The role is customer facing, working closely with business and technical influencers, IT Pros, and Rackspace partners in understanding the technical strategy, competitive differentiation, and value proposition of our solutions. The role also enables you to interact with the team that develops, deploys, and operates our Google Compute based offerings.

     

    The right candidate for the role will have multiple years’ experience with cloud platforms like GCP. You have served as a subject matter expert in designing and migrating applications to live in the cloud. We are looking for the top talent in the industry, highly skilled in complex cloud deployments and adept at the design and implementation of complex platforms.

    Are you a proven technologist and architect with a passion for data in all its shapes and sizes? Do you have a desire to provide high quality solutions, best practices and tooling to customers diving into data for the cloud world? Do you like to spend your time helping customers solve difficult technical challenges?

     

    Rackspace’s recently formed Managed Google Cloud Platform team are looking to hire deeply technical cloud architects with experience of using and designing Cloud Solutions. This role requires time spent working on both large and complex customer engagements, and helping to research and develop the best practices/standards and automation for broader use across Rackspace’s GCP customers.

     

    A successful candidate would work with leading-edge technology and people in the managed cloud space to define and develop supportable architectures (both solution specific and reference architectures), drive supportability and cost optimization practices across the organization. The Google Cloud Architect would represent Rackspace by publishing blog / whitepaper content and speaking at relevant industry events, whilst also serving as an internal GCP ‘evangelist’ and a mentor to fellow Rackers.

    Qualifications

    • A deep understanding of Cloud Computing – IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
    • Expertise in Cloud technologies and their design/usage
    • Experience in public cloud based infrastructure design
    • Experience in technical pre-sales
    • Can present concepts in authoritative and clear manner to customers through white boarding, presentations and proposals
    • Ability to create wow / delighter moments with customers
    • Effective with time management and expected deliverables
    • Exceptional communication skills; both written and verbal with great attention to detail
    • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders at various business levels
    • Have experience in providing mentoring for team members and Sales Representatives
    • Negotiation and objection handling skills
    • Ability to resolve complex technical problems at a pre- or post-sales level, working with either sales or support personnel
    • Demonstrated, strong analysis capabilities and technical knowledge by providing innovative, supportable technical solutions
    • Drive to continually expand knowledge in the areas of new technological developments and trends
    • Attention to detail in documenting information and ability to show ownership of follow through in customer resolutions
    • Expertise in OS, networking and cloud architecture fundamentals
    • Tenacious problem solver, will own issues until full resolution
    • Experience leading technical workshops exploring requirements and mapping solutions
    • Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders with regard to terms of service within a contract
    • A high level of business awareness and commercial acumen
    • Have experience with developing ‘win themes’ and customisation of value propositions to client needs and write technical responses to bids (RFPs & RFIs)
    • Able to evangelise disruptive proposals when necessary
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
    • Extensive experience in progressively more responsible roles in either solutions architecture, support or IT professional services
    • Solid experience working in or with cloud technologies
    • GCP or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification
    • Knowledge and experience with Container technologies
